New Toy

My friend Jenny suggested that I buy a play mat for William and I am really glad that I did. He loves it. I can't wait til he can grab the toys and realize that his kicking starts up the music. For now he just looks left and right and stares at the giraffe and monkey.

He tries really hard to lift his head and look at the mat as well, but that doesn't last as long.

Blowing Bubbles

Look, its my new found skill! I can blow little bubbles.

Aren't I funny?

OH, excuse my saliva. :)

2 Months

My Little William,

You turned 2 months old last week and you have grown up SO MUCH! You hold your head so steady and you can turn to focus on my face or to look at toys. You kick your legs a lot now and like standing up on my lap when I support you. You smile all the time while you are awake and you look like you could be laughing and giggling if you only found your voice. You do talk to us a little bit in this tiny voice and I love cooing back to you. You are the joy of my life (and your daddy's).

We just started helping you sleep on your own and it involves letting you cry yourself to sleep. Hearing you cry is hard, but I was reminded that God has entrusted you to your Dad and I. That means that our job is to raise and train you. Training you is going to be painful, for you and for us. It physically hurts me to hear you cry, and I know you don't understand why we are making you go through this hardship. When you read this, it will of course make sense why we made you cry yourself to sleep. Every child needs to sleep on his own! But for every hardship that we put you through, you may not understand why we do it and I hope you can trust that we know what is best and have your best interest at heart. God will also put you through hardship and trials will come up in your life. It will tear your heart apart at times and you will come to the end of yourself. But you know what? God will meet you there. Those things are actually blessings to you because they bring down those fixed idols in your life and you will turn to God. Trust Him, my son. He loves you and is in control of your life. His ways are not your ways, and He has your best interest in mind. He desires good for you and that good is really for you to KNOW Him more.

I love you .... so much!

Mommy

Hey guys I'm 8 weeks old today and look what I can do!
I'm getting so strong!
I hold my head so steady and can look around slowly
But I get tired really fast. This holding my head up thing is hard.
Ok, Mom, put the camera away!!!

Goodbye Naps, Hello Toys!

Well, it is here... The age when babies find everything so much more interesting than sleep. William skips approximately 1/3 of his naps now. I'm not sure when he will sleep or when I will be bouncing him for an hour in the hope that he will sleep.

It isn't all bad though. Will is the smilingest baby you have ever seen. I love how his eyes sparkle when he smiles. Usually he only smiles when I'm talking to him, but yesterday I caught him smiling to his toys. It was so exciting to see him and I got tons of pictures. It is exciting to think that I can now show him things that will entertain him and teach him skills like eye-hand coordination and depth perception .... and lots of other stuff. :)

Don't you just love that smile??? :)

Comparing Father and Son

I think William looks a lot like Isaac when he was a baby. What do you think?
